The Utah State Fair has been a staple Salt Lake event for as far back as most locals can remember. It is, in fact, a tradition begun by early settlers in 1856 to showcase all the best that Utah had to offer. This idea is still in full effect so many years later, as the USF brings together some of the finest local farmers, ranchers, and other entrepreneurs to show off their bounty.
This year's fair lasts for eleven days, during which the Utah State Fairpark will come alive with rodeos, concerts, games, and rides. There will be animal exhibitions, competitions, food, and so very much more. There will even be a truck-pull as well as a demolition derby - kid favorites.
Going to the fair in this age of electronic entertainment can be like taking a trip in to the past. What better way to connect with your inner-child than by having a stroll through the fun house, taking a spin on the ferris wheel with your sweetheart, or eating a gooey candied apple.
Grandstand concerts include a night of country music stars, comedians presented by Wise Guys comedy club, and well-known groups like Boyz II Men and 38 Special. Most shows are free, or are included with your admission ticket - available online or at the fairgrounds. Admission prices vary.
